The best way to lose weight is to cut back on manufactured food, food made by mixing and then heating fat, flour and sugar in various combinations.
The big problem is that food containing fat, flour and sugar tastes good. We’re attracted to it. However, it doesn’t take much of it to overload the body with energy. For instance a mere 100 grams of chocolate contains a quarter of our daily energy requirement.
We don‘t eat much fat, flour and sugar on their own.
We eat small amounts of fat when we spread butter on bread. We eat large amounts of fat when it is hidden in biscuits, cake, chips, chocolate and ice cream.
Not many people have ever sat down to a bowl of flour. But they’ve sure eaten plenty of it when it’s baked – as bread, biscuits and cake.
And not many people have sat down to a bowl of sugar, but they sure tuck it away when it’s hidden in soft drinks, chocolate, liquorice biscuits, cake and ice cream, and by the end of the day there’s a fair chance that a bowl full of the stuff has been poured down the hatch.
So there you have it, cut back on manufactured food containing fat, flour and sugar. When I come from these foods are known as the garbohydrates.
Substitute the garbohydrates with vegetables and fruit. Just to give you an idea of energy values, a kilogram (two pounds) of carrots contains about the same number of calories as 100gms of chocolate.
And you wonder why you’re getting fatter.
